MEGAzine

what?

Matt and I have been using Claude to make all sorts of weird stuff. It feels like all the chatter about AI lately is either money-making ideas or end-of-the-world doom, and the areas in between seemed far less explored, or at least far less seen.

So we've been making strange little apps and demos. Some are immediately useless, some are actual tools you could use, and some are just performance pieces.

After hitting fever pitch on weird generative AI, we had the idea of a collective to bring these works together. Matt wanted a zine. I wanted a website collecting ideas and works: some made with an LLM, others just our own music or Matt's paintings. Sometimes people might just write stories. Anything goes.

So we merged them. The zine is literally a piece of paper with a QR code, and the code brings you here.

Anything goes, through the BBS

An app that does nothing useful. A tool that does one thing well. A song, a painting, a short story. Submissions go through The Septic Tankz, our dial-up board:

  1. Dial in and make an account.
  2. Wait for the SysOp to validate you.
  3. Post in megaZINE Submissions, following the first message there.

Every piece gets a gold seal saying who made it and how. It is the one rule here.

Paper first

Each issue is one folded sheet with codes on it, left on café tables and in bus shelters. Scan a code and it lands here. Links can change; the paper never has to.
